Mr. Uprety served as a Team Leader for NAP formulation (May 2016-May 2017) and National Project Manager for NAPA preparation (2008-2009). He served the government for nearly 3 decades and was the first Head of Climate Change Management Division in the Ministry of Environment from April 2010 to May 2012. He was engaged in institutionalising environmental assessment system for about 2 decades, and implementing UNFCCC for half a decade in the government. Mr. Uprety is credited to initiate and finalise Nepal's NAPA, LAPA (Local Adaptation Plans for Action, 2011) and Climate Change Policy (2011), and access climate finance to implement NAPA prioritised adaptation actions. Mr. Uprety was engaged in climate change negotiations from 2007 to 2016 and served as the LEG Chair for 2014 and 2015. He is supporting the integration of adaptation into existing and new policies in Nepal.
