The Guidelines presented in this document have the same structure as those prepared by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group, so that they can complement and contribute to the NAP process, addressing the genetic resources dimension of adaptation planning.
The Guidelines seek to ensure the relevance of GRFA to the overall national adaptation planning process in a country by identifying clear goals for conservation and use of GRFA as part of national adaptation to climate change, and ensuring the fullest involvement of all stakeholders. The process allows the identification of well-defined objectives and the development of plans to achieve these. In this way the Guidelines can support the identification of priority areas for future investments in conservation and use of GRFA
